In the world of online marketing, nothing stands still for long, but I cannot believe we’re almost at the end of 2015.
I know it’s only mid-December and it may seem a little premature to make your online marketing resolutions right now, but this is my last blog post for 2015, and I wanted to make sure that you’re prepared to grow your business with online marketing in 2016.
Here are 3 Online Marketing New Year’s Resolutions you should make now.
- Update your website with fresh valuable content regularly.I’ve blogged for twelve years now, but I went through a stage where I was so busy blogging for clients I forgot about the big picture in terms of my own business’ online marketing. So at the beginning of 2015, I committed to writing an article once a week, that would help solve my clients problems around social media, digital and online marketing. I’m pleased to say I’ve pretty much stuck to this resolution, (apart from a one-week break in May). The results from adopting this resolution have been phenomenal. My search engine ranking has increased for all the terms I wanted it to, resulting in more people finding me, many new clients, and above all a 40% increase in my business’ annual turnover. It’s also worked for clients. I’ve been blogging for Rosie Killip, Director and Lead Learning and Development Consultant for Building Networks NZ Ltd for just a few months, and she says... “The blogs Kate has written for me are translating to real dollars, introducing me to a completely new market.” Publishing great content isn’t a new trend, but that doesn’t mean it’s going anywhere in 2016, it’s more important than ever to build trust and credibility with your prospective customers.
- Use video more.
I’m adopting this New Year’s resolution myself as part of my online marketing strategy in 2016. But go native! You Tube is so last year… Check out this recent blog post to find out why. - Start the New Year with a clean up.
As new social media trends have come along throughout the year you may have created a Snapchat, Periscope or Dubsmash account, but is it working for you?Take a day at the end of this month to review your social media accounts. Which ones are working for you, allowing you to connect and engage with your clients? Probably the ones you enjoy using the most. If that’s the case then take a long hard look at the others that you aren’t doing much with. Either make a commitment to them or dump them and concentrate instead on using the channels you enjoy!
