I work with clients locally in West Sussex, throughout the UK and all over the world. But they all have one thing in common; they want more website visitors. And I bet you do too! So read on, because I’m going to share a few tips to help you get more site traffic.
How to get more website visitors:
1: Have a website!
Sounds obvious, huh? But I go to lots of business networking events, and you wouldn’t believe the number of people I meet that are doing all their marketing on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter. I get it. It’s a cost-effective way for start-up businesses to gain their digital foothold. But, if you’re only marketing through your social channels, there’s one thing you should always keep in your mind. While it’s true that you can do a lot on Facebook. You can create content and events and display customer reviews. You can even sell products. But… Facebook belongs to Facebook! While it’s unlikely that any of the major social networks would disappear overnight, would your business survive if it did?
2: Produce quality content
A couple of weeks ago, I spoke at The Collective’s monthly mingle on blogging for business in Chichester, West Sussex. Content marketing, is as you may have gathered, a topic very close to my heart. That’s because when it comes to attracting more website visitors, I know that publishing regular, quality blog articles that engage and inform readers also increases website traffic. I’ve seen peaks in both mine and my client’s website stats when articles are published. Be sure to get your headline and imagery on point before you share through social channels for maximum click through rate.
3: Run promotions from your website
I’ve lost count of the number of businesses I see running promotions and giveaways from their social media accounts. You know the posts I’m talking about. Like this post and tag a friend for a chance to win. While it might suit you to run fast and furious competitions in this manner, there is another way! Look for contest software that allows you to embed an entry form on your website. I love ‘Shortstack’ and have been using it for years. Here’s a promotion that I’ve recently worked on for my client, Blue Bear Self Storage. There are several benefits to running promotions this way. Firstly, you get the all-important click-through rate to your website. Secondly, the entries are collected and collated within your Shortstack account, so you don’t have to manually tot up entries. This makes it easy to select a winner. Finally, there’s a potential to get something in return. The all important email address! Of course, you can only add this address to your newsletter database with the entrant’s permission. But, it’s easy to incorporate a tick box in the entry form.
4: Make the most of your database
All too often, we’re so focused on creating fresh content to attract new customers. We forget about the people that already ❤️ what we do! You all know that age old rule of marketing that it costs five times more to attract a new customer than it does to retain an existing one. So, be sure to send email campaigns with nice big, juicy, clickable links back to your website, to the customers already on your radar. They might not have visited for a while. And they could be ripe for conversion! I’m not talking about bombarding your database to the point that they unsubscribe. But offering them a well thought out ‘come back coupon’ or just letting them know about your latest product or service can help boost your website traffic.
5: Collaborate with other businesses
Collaboration is often key to success when it comes to attracting more website visitors. By teaming up with brands or companies whose values align with yours is a great way to tap into fresh traffic. Think about incorporating some guest blogs into your content schedule, or interview some industry thought leaders. At the end of the day, if someone gets a mention online, they generally tend to share. That means more clicks and more website visitors for you!
