We are in unprecedented times… Working from home and practising social distancing is the new normal. That means, now more than ever, you need to cement your place online. In this post, I thought I’d share three tips to help you quickly and easily increase your online presence.
Increasing your online presence in tricky times:
Get Keen on Keywords:
People are searching online now more than ever. Keyword research is an essential step in ensuring your website is found. If you know what people are searching for, you can optimise your website’s content with those search terms in mind.
There are lots of tools out there that will help you with keyword research; some are chargeable. But one of the most overlooked free keyword search tools is Google itself! Let’s say you make and sell homemade energy balls. Simply typing energy balls into your Google search bar will bring up a list of other suggested searches that you can optimise content for.
Additionally, long-tail search terms might be a good option for smaller businesses. These are more specific keyword phrases that get less search traffic (so, you’re not competing with the big boys) but a higher conversion rate. People enter long-tail search terms when they get closer to the point of purchase. So, for my homemade energy ball supplier, your long-tail search term might be – “Energy balls containing cashew nuts.”
Crafting Content that Converts:
Once you have determined your keywords, it’s time to craft content that converts. Here are three simple steps to follow:
- Hit the headlines: Your title is super important if you want to stand out on a news feed filled with articles battling for first place. Need help with that? Here’s a link to a great headline analyser tool to help you.
- Super scannable: Use bullets, chunking, paragraphs and subheadings to make your content super scannable.
- Calls to action: Don’t forget to include the all-important “Call to Action” so your readers know what to do next.
Get Engaged:
In these tricky times, we are all looking for a little support, something to help us feel closer to other people, when we can’t actually be close. So, now more than ever make an effort to engage with your audience beyond the thumbs up on Facebook or the ❤️ on Insta! Create a unique #hashtag so you can spread a little love and positivity. I received this in my inbox today from one of my favourite brands, and it made me smile!
