Over the years website security has become more complex. From the early days of just using an email address and simple password, we have moved on to more complex solutions.
Kate Coote uses only the latest and most secure security solutions for the websites we build. By necessity, this does result in website owners following a procedure.
Below we explain the process you should follow:
Use your preferred browser
Your starting point is to go to the website log in page.
This will be https://your_website.com/wp-admin, where you replace “your_website.com” with your website address.

Logging In
From time to time you may see a box that requires you to agree to the Google reCaptcha services.
Click the line “I agree to these terms”.

Step 2
Once you have agreed to the terms you will see that “I’m not a Robot” check box, together with the standard username and password field

Step 3
Enter your username or email address associated with your website login. Use the password that you created / saved when you first logged in.

Step 4
Now you will need to check the box to confirm that you are not a robot.
Once you have the tick you can click the Log In button.
Part 2 – The 2 factor element of the login

Step 5
After you have clicked the Log In button a new window opens.
Here you can use the convenient Google app that creates a dynamic Authentication code and enter that code into the box.
Click the Authenticate button and you will now be logged in.
If you don’t have the Google Authenticator app, just click the ‘Email’ link below the empty box and go to the next step.

Step 6 – Email Authentication only
After you have clicked the ‘Email’ link a new window opens (see next screenshot)
This blank field awaits the authentication code which will be automatically emailed to you. This normally arrives in your inbox within 2 minutes.

Step 7 – Email Authentication only
If you clicked the Email link you will receive your login authentication code sent to your email address. Copy the code ensuring exactly making sure that you don’t include spaces
In this example you should copy 89618255.
Note: Your emailed code will be different.

Step 7 – Email Authentication only
In this example, we have copied the code from the email and then pasted 89618255* into the Authentication Code box.
*Your emailed code will be different.
Click Log In and you will be taken to the websites admin area dashboard.
If you prefer to use the Google Authenticator app rather than the email authentication method. click this link to add the app to your phone:
