So, it’s the start of a New Year, and I do not doubt that many Chichester businesses have goals for 2018, including how to stand out from the online crowd. So, with that in mind, I wanted to share three digital marketing tips with you to help your business flourish online in 2018.
- Inject some influence – Do you think your product, brand or company is too small to take advantage of influencer marketing? Do you believe that unless you have Kim Kardashian on board to advocate for your product or service, nobody is going to be interested? Think again! It’s a common misconception that influencer marketing is a space reserved for modern-day celebrities. But in fact, there are always opportunities to harness influencers no matter what size your business is. If you’re a local restaurant or cafe invite a food blogger to dine for free in return for a review. Source influencers from your tribe of loyal customers. Influencer marketing is not a new concept, (just a new buzz phrase), I belong to a Chichester business networking group, and when other attendees recommend the services of group members, I listen… This is in itself a form of influencer marketing, so you just need to think of ways to harness this digitally. Ask for a Facebook review or testimonial that you can publish on your website, or interview a loyal customer in a blog post.
- Beef up your blogging – Content is still King when it comes to digital marketing success. But if you’ve been churning out posts in 2018 and haven’t seen the results you’d expected you may need to review your methods or get some third-party help, (that’s where I come in 😉). Your blog posts need to be optimised for search engines, but most importantly they need to educate and inform your customers, solving problems. This focus on valuable and useful content has been successful for me, and for my clients. Here’s what one happy client said…
“The LinkedIn posts and blogs Kate has written for me are translating to real dollars, introducing me to a completely new market. I have just finished a half day training session with a group who had (unbeknownst to me) been following me on LinkedIn! They said “We’ve been sharing your blog posts everywhere!” Plus one of their colleagues contacted me separately for a 2 day in house training proposal. These clients are new to me. They are influential in what they do. Without Kate they would never have found me!” – Rosemary Killip, Director and Lead Learning and Development Consultant for Building Networks NZ Ltd.
- Find your voice – Well actually it’s more about helping other people find you with their voice… Was Alexa a Christmas gift in your household? Voice search is definitely on the up, and you need to ensure your website answers the questions people are voicing around your specialty. So when you write content, you need to consider including conversational phrases. Asking (and answering) a question in your content that begins with one the five Ws, (who, what, why, where, when), is a great way to start… I might include;
